How do I install GroupIN?
  • Go to Play Store, then search for GroupIN. Tap INSTALL under GroupIN.

  • Open GroupIN and continue to the next screen by agreeing to our Terms of Service.

  • Verify your phone number with OTP.

  • If a backup of your chat history was found and you would like to restore it, choose Restore. Learn more about restoring here.

  • Lastly, type in your name. You can also change this later in GroupIN by tapping More options.

Android

Go to the Google Play Store and search for GroupIN. Tap Update next to GroupIN.

iPhone

Go to the App Store and search for GroupIN. Tap UPDATE next to GroupIN.

  • You can only verify a phone number you own.

  • You must be able to receive SMS to the phone number you are trying to verify.

  • You must have any message-blocking settings, apps or task killers disabled.

  • You must have a working Internet connection through mobile data or Wi-Fi. If you're roaming or have a bad connection, verification may not work. Try opening support@groupin.app on your phone’s Internet browser to see if you are connected to the Internet.

  • Enter your phone number.

    • Choose your country from the drop-down list. This will automatically fill your country code on the left.

    • Enter your phone number in the box on the right. Don't put any 0 before your phone number.

  • Tap submit to request a code.

  • Enter the 4-digit code you receive via SMS.

If you are having issues verifying, please try the following:

  • Reboot your phone (To reboot your phone, turn it off, wait for 30 seconds, and turn it back on).

  • Delete and re install the latest version of GroupIN.

  • Send a test SMS message from any phone to your own phone number exactly as you entered it in GroupIN, including the country code, to check your reception.

We can't send your code via any other method due to security reasons.

This screen appears when you're creating a new account or reregistering your existing account. To confirm that you own the phone number, you’ll be prompted to enter a 4-digit OTP code sent to you via SMS. Verifying your phone number with a registration code is the only way you can activate your account, and you must be able to receive the code on your phone.

GroupIN app can only be used with one phone number on one device at a time. After you successfully register your phone number on GroupIN, anyone who might be using your account is automatically logged out and your account is protected.

Your GroupIN account can only be verified with one number on one phone. If you have a dual SIM phone, please note that you still must choose one number to verify with GroupIN. There is no option to have a GroupIN account with two phone numbers.

If you attempt to frequently switch your GroupIN account between different devices, at a certain point, you may be blocked from re-verifying your account. Please don't repeatedly switch between different devices and numbers.

How to edit your profile

You can edit your profile photo, name, and about information in GroupIN Settings.

  • Open GroupIN Settings.

  • Tap your profile photo.

  • Tap Gallery to choose an existing photo or Camera to take a new photo.

  • If you have an existing profile photo you can Remove photo.

  • Open GroupIN> tap More options > Settings.

  • Tap your profile photo.

  • Enter your new name.

    • The name limit is 25 characters.

    • You can add emoji by tapping Emoji.

  • Tap SAVE.

  • Open GroupIN> open group>Tap on menu > Tap info>tap edit option.

  • Tap your profile photo.

  • By About, tap Edit.

  • You can either:

    • Select a prefilled option.

    • Tap Edit by Currently set to customize your about information. The about information limit is 135 characters.

About sending messages on GroupIN?

GroupIN uses your phone's cellular connection or Wi-Fi network to send and receive messages. As long as you haven't exceeded your mobile data allowance or you're connected to a free Wi-Fi network, your mobile provider shouldn't charge you for messaging GroupIN. If your phone is roaming, data charges might apply.

Share media, documents, location, or contacts

  • Open an individual or group chat.

  • Tap Attachment. Then, tap:

    • Document to select a document from your phone.

    • Camera to take a picture with your camera.

    • Gallery to select an existing photo or video from your phone. Tap and hold to select multiple images.

    • Audio to send existing audio from your phone.

    • Location to send your location or a nearby place.

    • Contact to send the information of a contact saved in your phone's address book over GroupIN

  • You can also add captions to photos and videos. Swipe between photos to add captions to each one.

  • Tap Send

  • Open an individual or group chat.

  • Tap and hold the type of message you wish to forward. You can select multiple messages.

  • Tap Forward

  • Choose the chat you wish to forward the message to.

  • Tap Send

When you forward media, documents, locations, or contacts, you don't have to upload them again. Any forwarded messages that weren't originally sent by you will display a "Forwarded" label.

How to search GroupIN

Search Group with a keyword

The search feature allows you to search your Group on your device with a keyword.

  • Open GroupIN.

  • Tap Search icon top right side.

  • Type the word or phrase you’re looking for in the Search field.

  • Tap a result to open that group in the group list.

Search person with a keyword

  • Open GroupIN.

  • Tap Search.

  • Type the word or phrase you’re looking for in the Search field.

  • Select the media type you want to search.

  • Tap a result to open that message in the chat.

  • Open GroupIN App.

  • Go to the group info.

  • Tap add contacts > Select New contact.

  • To add contacts that use an international phone number

You can create a GroupIN group with up to 1,00,0000 participants.

  • Open GroupIN> tap on floating button on groups module > select contact>Clik on arrow icon button>set profile picture>type group details.

  • Search for or select contacts to add to the group. Then, tap the arrow icon.

  • Enter a group name. This will be the name of the group that all participants will see.

  • The subject limit is 35 characters.

  • You can tap Emoji to add emoji to your subject.

  • You can add a group icon by tapping the Camera icon. You can choose to use your Camera, Gallery Once set, the icon will appear next to the group in the CHATS tab.

  • Now click on the CREATE GROUP button.

You can add or remove group participants if you’re a group owner& admin.

Add participants

  • Open the GroupIN group chat, then tap the group subject.

    • Alternatively, tap and hold the group in the CHATS tab. Then, tap More options > Group info.

  • Tap Add participants.

  • Search for or select contacts to add to the group.

  • Tap the purple Arrow mark when you're finished.

Remove participants

  • Open the GroupIN group chat, then tap the group subject.

    • Alternatively, tap and hold the group in the CHATS tab. Then, tap More options > Group info.

  • Tap the participant you want to remove.

  • Tap Remove {participant} > OK.

The only group owner can make a participant an admin. A group can have an unlimited number of admins. The original creator of a group can't be removed and will remain an owner unless they exit the group.

  • Open the GroupIN group chat, then tap the group subject.

    • Alternatively, tap and hold the group in the CHATS tab. Then, tap More options > Group info.

  • Tap the participant you want to make an admin.

  • Tap Make group admin.

  • Open the GroupIN group chat, then tap the group subject.

    • Alternatively, tap and hold the group in the CHATS tab. Then, tap More options > Group info.

  • Tap Group settings > Edit group admins.

  • Select the participants you want to make admins.

  • Tap the purple arrow mark when you're finished.

  • Open the GroupIN group chat, then tap the group subject.

    • Alternatively, tap and hold the group in the CHATS tab. Then, tap More options > Group info.

  • Tap the admin you want to dismiss.

  • Tap Dismiss as admin.

  • Open the GroupIN group chat, then tap the group subject.

    • Alternatively, tap and hold the group in the CHATS tab. Then, tap More options > Group info.

  • Tap Group settings > Edit group admins.

  • Uncheck the admins you want to dismiss.

  • Tap the green check mark when you're finished.

You can delete a group for all group participants if you’re the group owner. Before you can exit group.

When owner exit the group all the group data deleted in group members accounts also.

  • Open the GroupIN group chat, then tap the group subject. Alternatively, tap and hold the group in the CHATS tab.

  • Tap the participant’s name > Remove {participant} > OK.

After removing all group participants, you’ll need to exit the group.

  • Open the GroupIN group chat, then tap the group subject. Alternatively, tap and hold the group in the CHATS tab.

  • Tap Exit group > EXIT.

How to restore your chat history?

To ensure that your chats are backed up before restoring them on a new Android device:

  • Open GroupIN > More options > Settings > Chats > Chat Backup.

  • You can create a local backup on your device.

  • Tap BACK UP.

  • After the backup has been saved, you can remove GroupIN from your device and install it on your new Android device.

If you want to use a local backup, you'll need to transfer the files to the phone using a computer, file explorer or SD Card.

To restore your backup:

  • Download a file manager app.

  • In the file manager app, navigate to your local storage or sd card > GroupIN > Databases. If your data isn't stored on an SD card, you might see "internal storage" or "main storage" instead. Copy the most recent backup file to the local storage's Databases folder of your new device.

  • Install and open GroupIN, then verify your number

  • Tap RESTORE when prompted to restore your chats and media from the local backup.

  • In the Chats tab, tap and hold the individual chat you want to delete.

  • Tap Delete > DELETE.

  • To delete a group chat, you first need to exit the group.

  • In the Chats tab, tap and hold the group chat you want to delete.

  • Tap More options > delete group > tap Delete.

  • In the Chats tab, tap More options > Settings > Chats > Chat history

  • Tap Delete all chats.

  • Individual chats and status updates will be deleted from your Chats tab. However, group chats will still be visible in your Chats tab, and you’ll still be part of them unless you exit them.
